Andy Warhol would have approved of the Sexual Side Effects‘ Franken-Party this Friday Jan. 25 at the Drunken Unicorn. A rock ‘n’ roll fantasy collides with an art show. The crowd is scantily but fabulously dressed, clothes replaced by body paint. Go-go dancers twist and shake in Nancy Sinatra boots as multi-colored lights sweep across the dance floor. The epic extravaganza launches SSE’s Franken-Tour across the Southeast and Texas and also boasts Sarasota, Florida’s MeteorEYES, who are on their Winter Migration Tour, and self-proclaimed Atlanta nerd-rock band Go! Robo! Go!

If you thought female grunge was dead, think again. The Sexual Side Effects put a fresh spin on the chick rock movement started by the likes of Courtney Love and Shirley Manson in the ’90s. The band’s debut EP High Maintenance features the hauntingly complex ballad “Aurora,” as well as the single “I’m In Love With A Girl (But She Used To Be A Man),” which offers a comical tone while maintaining the haunting melodies and slow, deep bass that define The Sexual Side Effects sound.

The Sexual Side Effects Spread To Texas
For this upcoming Texas outbreak, The Side Effects have run away with the counterculture collective known as the Revolution Circus! With the added carnie camp of the Revolution Circus’ jugglers, dancers and other performers, The SSE will be more than ready to take on the expected crowd of 60,000 that will be awaiting at the main stage of the Houston Pride Festival, where the band will be opening for Sarah Golden from NBC’s The Voice.
